One of my favorite assignments of 2015 came toward's the year's end, during a time of heightened hostility towards America's refugee community. I firmly believe immigrants are among our country's greatest assets and that our tradition of welcoming immigrants is part of our national values. ZamZam, is a Somali refugee living in Lewiston, Maine. She devotes each day in service to her community: serving on a Police task force and the school board and working as a nurse and interpreter. The headline is absolutely right: we need more Mainers like ZamZam. I highly recommend reading the full article about ZamZam, beautifully written by Jesse Ellison.
